Going international

International travel continues to be difficult but fortunately according to the writer Mason Cooley “reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are”.

So we are really excited to be reading the winner of the International Booker Prize this July and our hospital has received 10 free copies from the Reading Agency for us to read and review.

At Night All Blood is Black written by David Diop who was born in Paris and grew up in Senegal. The book was translated from French by Anna Moschovakis. At Night All Blood is Black is a story of friendship and a young Senegalese soldier fighting for France during the First World War. It gives a new perspective on the history of WWI and the contribution of African soldiers. Read the book synopsis, reviews and the judging panel’s comments here.
